A new online e-Visa system

With effect from19 March 2024 (B.E. 2567), the new online e-Visa system will be implemented to replace the current visa application procedures.

A foreign national in New Zealand wishing to apply for a Thai visa, must submit an application through the new online e-Visa system which original passport and supporting documents either in person or by courier to the Royal Thai Embassy, Wellington, are no longer required. All visa applications, received after 15 March 2024 will be returned to the applicants to re-apply through this new online e-Visa system.

The Royal Thai Embassy, Wellington will only accept applications from residents of New Zealand, the Cook Islands, Samoa and Niue via https://thaievisa.go.th/. Applicants will be required to create an application account, complete the visa application form, upload supporting documents and make payment for visa fee (non-refundable) via the website. It takes around 5-10 working days to process the visa applications from the date we receive all the required documents.

NON-IMMIGRANT VISAS

Category "F" (NZ$800/person, single entry only)             
To perform official duties

Category "B" (NZ$800/person, single entry only)            
To conduct business, to work, to take part in a professional training program, to do an internship

Category "IB" (NZ$800/person, single entry only)          
To invest or perform other activities relating to investment, subject to the provision of the established laws on investment promotion             

Category "ED" (NZ$800/person, single entry only)          
To study, to come on a work study tour or observation tour, to participate in projects or seminars, to attend a conference or training course, to study as a foreign Buddhist monk

Category "M" (NZ$800/person, single entry only)             
To work as a film-producer, journalist or reporter (For short-term work, you will be issued a category "B" visa)

Category "O"             
- To visit Thai spouse, children, parents (NZ$800/person, single entry or NZ$2000/person, multiple entries)
- To do volunteer duties (no income) (NZ$800/person, single entry only)
- Retirement (NZ$800/person, single entry only)

Category "O-A"          
Long-stay visa for applicants aged 50 years and over (valid for 1 year) (NZ$2,000/person, multiple entries)

Category "O-X"

This type of visa may be issued to applicants aged 50 years and over who wish to stay in Thailand for a period of not exceeding 10 years. Holders of this type of visa are allowed to stay in Thailand for up to 5 years upon entry. Employment of any kind is strictly prohibited.


STANDARD REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR ALL TYPES OF NON-IMM VISAS:

 Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months and its copy

 One recent passport-sized photograph (taken within the past 6 months) (Three photographs for Specified Passport Holders)

 Copy of Return Air ticket or Confirmed Travel Itinerary (The name of the applicant must clearly indicated.)

 Letter of Reference from company/ organization/ agency in New Zealand and/ or Letter of  Reference from company/ organization/ agency in Thailand                                                                                

ADDITIONAL REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

FEE:

NZ$800 per person/entry.

VALIDITY OF VISA:

 - Single entry: 3 months (you must enter Thailand within the validity of visa from the date of issue)
 - Multiple entry: 1 year (you must enter Thailand on your final visit before expiry of the visa from the date of issue)

VALIDITY OF STAY:

The holders of this type of visa are initially granted a period of stay in the Kingdom not exceeding 90 days unless otherwise instructed by the Office of Immigration Bureau.

EXTENSION OF STAY:

The holder of non-immigrant visa may apply for an extension of stay at the Office of the Immigration Bureau and may be granted such extension for a period of one year from the date of first entry into Thailand. The extension of stay is at the discretion of the Immigration officer. (Details in http://www.immigration.go.th)

 

Note:
1. Visa applicants with residence in New Zealand are strongly advised to submit visa application for Non-Immigrant Visa to the Royal Thai Embassy, Wellington.  

2. The Royal Thai Embassy reserves the rights to request for other additional documents, depending on the type of Non-Immigrant Visa.
3. The document to be submitted for non-immigrant visa application is contingent upon necessities and appropriateness of purposes stated in the application form.
4. It is generally required that non-immigrant visa applicantions be submitted to the Thai Embassy in the home country (or country of residence) of the applicant.
