A new online e-Visa system

With effect from 19 March 2024 (B.E. 2567), the new online e-Visa system will be implemented to replace the current visa application procedures.

A foreign national in New Zealand wishing to apply for a Thai visa, must submit an application through the new online e-Visa system which original passport and supporting documents either in person or by courier to the Royal Thai Embassy, Wellington, are no longer required. All visa applications, received after 15 March 2024 will be returned to the applicants to re-apply through this new online e-Visa system.

The Royal Thai Embassy, Wellington will only accept applications from residents of New Zealand, the Cook Islands, Samoa and Niue via https://thaievisa.go.th/. Applicants will be required to create an application account, complete the visa application form, upload supporting documents and make payment for visa fee (non-refundable) via the website.

Non-Immigrant Visa “M” – Mass Media of Communication

This type of visa is issued to applicants who wish to enter the Kingdom to work as a film-producer, journalist or reporter.

 

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED (For Foreign Press)

Basic Required documents by all types of Non-Immigrant Visa

 An original confirmation letter of approval from Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand.

 A copy of recent bank statement (The name of the applicant must indicated clearly) In case of submitting family bank statement a proof of relationship (i.e. birth certificate, marriage certificate) must be provided.

 For a Non-New Zealand citizen, a proof of Residence Document in New Zealand is required (e.g. resident visa, work visa, etc.)

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED (For Film Shooting)

Basic Required documents by all types of Non-Immigrant Visa

 An original confirmation letter of Approval from the Department of Tourism,  Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Kingdom of Thailand.

 A Letter from an employer in New Zealand which identifying purpose of visit to Thailand, Length of employment, name of the company/organization in Thailand that you are going to conduction business with, position and salary, etc.

 Business registration of New Zealand’s company with the name of the applicant.

 An evidence of New Zealand company’s financial status such as Bank statement in the past 6 months.

VALIDITY OF A VISA:

 - Single entry: 3 months (you must enter Thailand within the validity of visa from the date of issue)

 - Multiple entry: 6 months (you must enter Thailand on your final visit before expiry of the visa from the date of issue)

VALIDITY OF A STAY:

The holders of this type of visa are initially granted a period of stay in the Kingdom not exceeding 90 days unless otherwise instructed by the Office of Immigration Bureau.

EXTENSION OF STAY:

The holder of non-immigrant visa may apply for an extension of stay at the Office of the Immigration Bureau and may be granted such extension for a period of one year from the date of first entry into Thailand. The extension of stay is at the discretion of the Immigration officer. (Details in http://www.immigration.go.th)

FEE:

NZ$ 800 per entry. 

 

Note:

1. Please submit visa application to the Royal Thai Embassy, Wellington only. The Honorary Consulate-General in Auckland is not authorised to isse this type of visa.

2. The Royal Thai Embassy reserves the rights to request for other additional documents, depending on the type of Non-Immigrant Visa.

3. The document to be submitted for non-immigrant visa application is contingent upon necessities and appropriateness of purposes stated in the application form.

4. Applicant from the Specified Passport Holders who do not have home/ residence country in New Zealand is advised to apply for a Non-Immigrant visa only at the Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate-General in their home/residence country or at the designated Royal Thai Embassy. Therefore, travellers are advised to contact the nearest Thai Embassy or Consulate-General to find out where they may apply for a visa to Thailand before departure.
