เมื่อวันที่ ๙ กันยายน ๒๕๖๘ เอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงเวลลิงตัน พร้อมด้วยข้าราชการและเจ้าหน้าที่สถานเอกอัครราชทูตฯ และชุมชนชาวไทยในนิวซีแลนด์ ได้ให้การต้อนรับนางสาว Abby Sturgin, Miss Universe New Zealand 2025 นางสาว Hannah Cross, Miss Asia Pacific International New Zealand และนางสาว Gazelle Garcia, Miss Grand International New Zealand ณ ที่ทำการสถานเอกอัครราชทูตฯ ในโอกาสที่นางสาว Abby Sturgin จะเป็นตัวแทนของนิวซีแลนด์ เข้าร่วมการประกวด Miss Universe และนางสาว Gazelle Garcia จะเข้าร่วมการประกวด Miss Grand International ซึ่งจะจัดขึ้นที่ประเทศไทยในช่วงปลายปีนี้ 

ในโอกาสนี้ เอกอัครราชทูตฯ ได้กล่าวให้กำลังใจและอวยพรให้นางงามนิวซีแลนด์ทั้งสามท่านประสบความสำเร็จในการประกวด พร้อมทั้งได้จัดอาหารไทยให้ได้ลิ้มลองก่อนการเดินทางไปประเทศไทย บรรยากาศการต้อนรับเป็นไปด้วยความอบอุ่นและเป็นกันเอง โดยนางงามทั้งสามได้เล่าประสบการณ์ต่าง ๆ เกี่ยวกับเวทีการประกวด ข้อคิดในการดำเนินชีวิต และแรงบรรดาลใจในการเป็นต้นแบบให้กับคนรุ่นใหม่ ซึ่งแสดงถึงมิตรภาพอันดีระหว่างประเทศไทยและนิวซีแลนด์ ตลอดจนเป็นการสร้างความสัมพันธ์อันแน่นแฟ้นระหว่างประชาชนของทั้งสองประเทศ

On 9 September 2025, Ambassador Waravuth Pouapinya, together with Embassy staff and members of the Thai community, welcomed Abby Sturgin, Miss Universe New Zealand 2025, Hannah Cross, Miss Asia Pacific International New Zealand, and Gazelle Garcia, Miss Grand International New Zealand, at the Royal Thai Embassy. Ms. Sturgin and Ms. Garcia will represent New Zealand in the Miss Universe and Miss Grand International competition, respectively, both of which will be held in Thailand later this year.

The Ambassador extended words of encouragement and best wishes for the success of the three contestants in their respective pageants, while also offering them a taste of Thai cuisine. The warm and friendly atmosphere reflected the strong friendship between Thailand and New Zealand through the promotion of Thai food and hospitality, further strengthening the two countries’ people-to-people bonds.
