สถานเอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงเวลลิงตัน เยือนโรงเรียน Mount Hutt College เพื่อพบปะนักเรียนไทย และคณะนักเรียนโครงการเยาวชนเข้าร่วมพิธีทำบุญและงานเฉลิมฉลองเนื่องในเทศกาลสงกรานต์ไทย
เมื่อวันที่ ๒๑ มีนาคม ๒๕๖๘ นายวราวุธ ภู่อภิญญา เอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงเวลลิงตัน พร้อมด้วยข้าราชการสถานเอกอัครราชทูตฯ ได้เดินทางเยือนโรงเรียน Mount Hutt College ณ เมือง Methven เขต Canterbury เพื่อพบหารือกับฝ่ายบริหารของโรงเรียนโดยเฉพาะนาย Jack Saxon ครูใหญ่ และเจ้าหน้าที่ที่ดูแลนักเรียนนานาชาติ เพื่อแสวงหาความร่วมมือด้านการศึกษาและวัฒนธรรมร่วมกันในอนาคต เพื่อส่งเสริมความร่วมมือด้านการศึกษาไทย - นิวซีแลนด์ ซึ่งโอกาสนี้ คณะได้พบปะกับนักเรียนไทยและเยี่ยมชมการเรียนการสอนของโรงเรียน
Mount Hutt College เป็นโรงเรียนมัธยมศึกษาภาครัฐ เปิดสอนตั้งแต่ระดับ (Year 7 - 13) โดยมีจุดเด่นทั้งในด้านวิชาการ กีฬา และกิจกรรมนอกหลักสูตร โรงเรียนมีนักเรียนทั้งหมด ๕๗๐ คน โดยในจำนวนนั้นเป็นนักเรียนนานาชาติ ๑๕ คน ซึ่งในจำนวนนี้มีนักเรียนไทย ๕ คน ถือเป็นกลุ่มนักเรียนนานาชาติที่มีจำนวนมากเป็นอันดับสองรองจากนักเรียนญี่ปุ่น เป็นโรงเรียนที่สร้างความเชื่อมั่นของผู้ปกครองชาวไทยที่มีต่อระบบการศึกษาของนิวซีแลนด์ ข้อมูลเพิ่มเติมเกี่ยวกับ Mount Hutt College: https://mounthuttcollege.co.nz
ในโอกาสเดียวกัน เอกอัครราชทูตฯ ได้พบปะกับสมาชิกของ Methven Community Board ซึ่งเป็นผู้บริหารชุมชนของเมืองเพื่อแลกเปลี่ยนความคิดเห็นและเยี่ยมชมการบริหารงานของเมือง Methven พร้อมทั้งเยี่ยมชมนิทรรศการ Alpine and Agriculture Encounter ณ หออนุสรณ์ Mt. Hutt Memorial Hall ซึ่งจัดแสดงข้อมูลเกี่ยวกับเทือกเขาแอลไพน์และระบบเกษตรกรรมในท้องถิ่น รวมถึงได้ศึกษาจุดแข็งด้านเกษตรกรรมของเมืองในแนวคิด “Smart Farmer” เพื่อส่งเสริมโอกาสความร่วมมือระหว่างไทยและนิวซีแลนด์ในด้านดังกล่าวต่อไปในอนาคต
นอกจากนี้ วันที่ ๑๑ เมษายน ๒๕๖๘ เอกอัครราชทูตฯ ได้ให้การต้อนรับและให้โอวาทกับคณะนักเรียนระดับประถมศึกษาและระดับมัธยมศึกษาจากโรงเรียนต่าง ๆ ในประเทศไทยที่เข้าร่วมโครงการเยาวชนแลกเปลี่ยนวัฒนธรรมกับ Kapiti College, Raumati Beach School, Kenakena School และ Horowhenua College พร้อมเจ้าหน้าที่แนะแนวการศึกษาต่อนิวซีแลนด์ NZ Study รวมทั้งคณะนักเรียนจาก Rongotai College กรุงเวลลิงตัน รวม ๓๐ คน ซึ่งนักเรียนทั้งหมดได้เข้าร่วมพิธีทำบุญตักบาตร และร่วมกิจกรรมงานเฉลิมฉลองเทศกาลสงกรานต์ไทย ประจำปี ๒๕๖๘ ณ ที่ทำการสถานเอกอัครราชทูตฯ โดยคณะนักเรียนไทยได้ร่วมสาธิตแสดงการละเล่นไทย อาทิ มอญซ่อนผ้า รีรีข้าวสาร รวมทั้งร่วมกิจกรรมเล่นน้ำสงกรานต์ด้วย
On 21 March 2025, Ambassador Waravuth Pouapinya, along with Embassy staff, visited Mount Hutt College and met with Mr. Jack Saxon, the school’s principal, and international programme officers to discuss future cooperation on educational exchange programmes and cultural activities. The delegation also met with Thai students and toured the school facilities to explore opportunities for future educational and cultural collaboration, with the aim to strengthening Thai–New Zealand educational cooperation.
Mount Hutt College is a coeducational state secondary school (Years 7–13). The school is well known for its strengths in academics, sports, and extracurricular activities, with an enrollment of 570 students, including 15 international students. Among them, five are Thai students, making up the second-largest group of international students after Japanese students. The Ambassador and the delegation also met with the Methven Community Board to discuss local governance and visited the Alpine and Agriculture Encounter at the Mt. Hutt Memorial Hall, which illustrates the region’s alpine environment and agricultural strengths. They also explored the “Smart Farmer” concept to promote future cooperation between Thailand and New Zealand in the agricultural sector.
On 11 April 2025, the Ambassador also welcomed a group of primary and secondary school students from Thailand who are participating in an educational and cultural exchange immersion programme at Kapiti College, Raumati Beach School, Kenakena School, and Horowhenua College. The students were accompanied by officers from the NZ Study education consulting company, along with students from Rongotai College in Wellington, a total of 30 Thai students at the Royal Thai Embassy in Wellington. Students later joined the celebration of the Thai Songkran Festival 2025 at the Embassy where they showcased traditional Thai children's games, such as Mon Son Pha and Ri Ri Khao San, as well as the traditional water-splashing activities on the Thai Songkran Festival.
