สถานเอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงเวลลิงตัน ได้จัดงาน Thai Festival 2026: “Sawasdee New Zealand, 70 Years of Friendship” เมื่อวันที่ 16 พฤษภาคม 2569 ณ Michael Fowler Centre เพื่อฉลองครบรอบ 70 ปี ความสัมพันธ์ทางการทูตไทย-นิวซีแลนด์ โดยนาย Andrew Little นายกเทศมนตรีกรุงเวลลิงตันได้ให้เกียรติมาร่วมเปิดงาน ภายในงานมีกิจกรรมหลากหลายทั้งการแสดงจากสถาบันบัณฑิตพัฒนศิลป์ กระทรวงวัฒนธรรม และชุมชนชาวไทยในกรุงเวลลิงตัน นิทรรศการมรดกวัฒนธรรมที่จับต้องไม่ได้ของไทยที่ขึ้นทะเบียนกับ UNESCO ได้แก่ หน้ากากโขน ต้มยำกุ้ง และชุดไทย
(ซึ่งอยู่ระหว่างการเสนอขึ้นทะเบียนมรดกโลก) นอกจากนี้ มีการออกร้านอาหารและสินค้าไทย นวดแผนไทย สาธิตการแกะสลักผักและผลไม้ เวิร์คช็อปมวยไทย การฝึกทำสมาธิ และกิจกรรมสำหรับเด็ก รวมถึงการเขียนภาษาไทย โดยมีผู้เข้าร่วมกว่า 5,000 คน

ในการนี้ สถานเอกอัครราชทูตฯ ขอขอบคุณชุมชนไทยในนิวซีแลนด์ และผู้สนับสนุน ที่ร่วมแรงร่วมใจจัดงานเทศกาลไทยในกรุงเวลลิงตันให้สำเร็จลุล่วงได้อย่างดี เป็นการประชาสัมพันธ์และสร้างความตระหนักรู้เกี่ยวกับศักยภาพของประเทศไทยให้ชาวนิวซีแลนด์และชาวต่างชาติได้เป็นที่ประจักษ์ ซึ่งสถานเอกอัครราชทูตฯ มีดำริที่จะจัดกิจกรรมที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการประชาสัมพันธ์ประเทศไทยในมิติต่าง ๆ เป็นระยะ ๆ อย่างต่อเนื่อง รวมทั้งให้งานเทศกาลไทยอยู่ในปฏิทินประจำปีของนิวซีแลนด์ต่อไป

 The Royal Thai Embassy in Wellington organized Thai Festival 2026: “Sawasdee New Zealand, 70 Years of Friendship” on 16 May 2026 at the Michael Fowler Centre, to celebrate the 70th  anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and New Zealand. His Worship Andrew Little, Mayor of Wellington, presided over the Opening Ceremony as Guest of Honour. 

The Festival featured a wide range of activities and performances, including cultural performances by the Bunditpatanasilpa Institute of Fine Arts under the Ministry of Culture and members of the Thai community in Wellington. Visitors also enjoyed exhibitions on Thailand’s intangible cultural heritage inscribed by UNESCO, including Khon masks, Tom Yum Kung, and traditional Thai attire (Chud Thai), which has been proposed for UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage inscription this year. In addition, the Festival included Thai food and product stalls, traditional Thai massage, fruit and vegetable carving demonstration, Muay Thai workshop, meditation sessions, and children’s activities including Thai language writing. The event attracted more than 5,000 participants.

On this occasion, the Royal Thai Embassy would like to express its sincere appreciation to the Thai community in New Zealand and all sponsors and supporters of the Thai Festival 2026, for their collective efforts in making the event a great success. The Festival served as an excellent platform to promote Thailand and raise awareness among New Zealanders and the international community about Thailand’s cultural richness and potential. The Embassy also intends to continue organizing activities that promote Thailand in various dimensions on a regular basis, and to further establish the Thai Festival as part of New Zealand’s annual cultural calendar.
