เมื่อวันที่ 12 เมษายน 2558 นายมาริษ เสงี่ยมพงษ์ (เอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงเวลลิงตัน) ได้ไปเป็นประธานในพิธีถวายพระพรสมเด็จพระเทพรัตนราชสุดาฯ สยามบรมราชกุมารี และเป็นประธานงานสงกรานต์ที่ Mt. Albert Hall นครโอ๊คแลนด์ และถือโอกาสแวะทักทายถามทุกข์สุขของพี่น้องคนไทยที่มาร่วมงานอย่างทั่วถึง รวมถึงนำคณะกงสุลสัญจรไปให้บริการพี่น้องชาวไทยถึงนครโอ๊คแลนด์ด้วย

            ในโอกาสดังกล่าว ทูตมาริษฯ ได้กล่าวว่า... ดีใจที่ได้มาทำบุญร่วมกับพี่น้องคนไทยที่นี่ และเนื่องจากเพิ่งมารับตำแหน่งทูตใหม่ จึงถือโอกาสปวารณาตัวที่จะทำงานร่วมกับชุมชนชาวไทยในนครโอ๊คแลนด์ เพื่อกระชับความสัมพันธ์ที่ยั่งยืนระหว่างประชาชนกับประชาชน ของไทยและนิวซีแลนด์ให้แน่น      แฟ้นต่อไป และวันนี้ ได้นำคณะกงสุลสัญจรมาให้บริการแก่พี่น้องชาวไทย ซึ่งถือเป็นการให้บริการแก่คนไทยให้ได้รับความสะดวกมากขึ้น ....

            นอกจากนี้ ในขณะเดียวกัน ทูตมาริษ ได้ไปพบกับผู้บริหารของมหาวิทยาลัยเทคโนโลยีโอ๊คแลนด์ หรือ AUT เพื่อหารือเกี่ยวกับการขยายความร่วมมือด้านการศึกษา โดยเฉพาะความรู้ด้านเทคโนโลยี ที่จะนำไปใช้ให้เกิดประโยชน์ และพบกับนักศึกษาไทย ซึ่งทูตมาริษย้ำถึงการนำความรู้ที่ได้ ไปปรับใช้ให้เกิดประโยชน์อย่างเป็นรูปธรรมในเมืองไทย นอกจากนี้ ทูตมาริษ ได้พบกับกลุ่มนักธุรกิจชาวนิวซีแลนด์ เพื่อเล็งหนทางในการส่งเสริมการค้าการลงทุนระหว่างกันให้มากขึ้น 

On 12 April 2015, H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Ambassador of Thailand to New Zealand, presided over a ceremony celebrating the auspicious occasion of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s 5th Cycle Birthday Anniversary and the Thai New Year at Mt. Albert Hall, Auckland. It was also an opportunity for the Ambassador to meet and converse with Thai who attended the event, leading the embassy’s roving consular services to the Thais living in Auckland and nearby areas.

On this occasion, the Ambassador said “I’m delight to be here to attend the merit making ceremony along side fellow Thais here. And as a newly designated Ambassador, I plea myself to cooperating with the Thai community in Auckland to further strengthen people-to-people ties between Thailand and New Zealand. Also, today I have brought staff from the embassy to provide consular services here; services which increases the convenience for the Thai people. 

Moreover, the Ambassador met with the executive of Auckland University of Technology (AUT) to discuss promoting cooperation in education especially in the area of technology. He also stressed to Thai students the importance of applying acquired knowledge for the benefits of Thailand. Furthermore, the Ambassador met with New Zealand businessmen and discussed aims of promoting investment and trade between Thailand and New Zealand.
