เมื่อวันที่ 8 กรกฎาคม 2569 เอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงเวลลิงตันได้เข้าร่วมการประชุมคณะกรรมการอาเซียน ณ กรุงเวลลิงตัน (ASEAN Committee in Wellington: ACW) ครั้งที่ 1/2026 ซึ่งประกอบด้วยเอกอัครราชทูตจากกลุ่มประเทศสมาชิกอาเซียน 7 ประเทศ ที่ประจำอยู่ ณ กรุงเวลลิงตัน ได้แก่ อินโดนีเซีย มาเลเซีย ฟิลิปปินส์ สิงคโปร์ เวียดนาม ประเทศไทย และติมอร์เลสเต โดยมีเอกอัครราชทูตเวียดนามเป็นประธาน

ที่ประชุมได้ต้อนรับ (1) เอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงเวลลิงตัน และ (2) ข้าหลวงใหญ่มาเลเซีย และ (3) เอกอัครราชทูตติมอร์เลสเต ในโอกาสการเข้ารับตำแหน่งใหม่ และได้ส่งมอบตำแหน่งประธาน ACW จากเวียดนามให้แก่มาเลเซีย ตลอดจนได้หารือแลกเปลี่ยนมุมมองเกี่ยวกับภารกิจในกรอบอาเซียน และการจัดกิจกรรมร่วมกัน เช่น วันอาเซียนประจำปี 2569

 

การประชุมคณะกรรมการอาเซียน ณ กรุงเวลลิงตัน จัดขึ้นเพื่อเป็นกลไกการหารือและแลกเปลี่ยนข้อมูลข่าวสาร รวมถึงการจัดกิจกรรมร่วมกันในนามอาเซียน ซึ่งช่วยส่งเสริมภาพลักษณ์ สร้างความตระหนักรู้ และเพิ่มพูนปฏิสัมพันธ์ที่มากขึ้นระหว่างกลุ่มประเทศอาเซียนกับหน่วยงานและสาธารณชนนิวซีแลนด์

On 8 July 2026, the Ambassador of Thailand attended the 1st meeting of ASEAN Committee in Wellington (ACW) for 2026, which comprised Heads of Mission from ASEAN diplomatic missions accredited to Wellington, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, and Timor-Leste. The meeting was chaired by the Ambassador of Vietnam.

 

In this occasion, the meeting welcomed (1) the Ambassador of Thailand, (2) the High Commissioner of Malaysia, and (3) the Ambassador of Timor-Leste, on the occasion of their new appointment as the Head of Mission to New Zealand. The meeting also handed over the ACW Chairmanship from Vietnam to Malaysia and discussed on ASEAN activities such as the cerebration of ASEAN Day 2026.

 

The ACW serves as a mechanism for ASEAN diplomatic missions for regular consultation as well as organizing ASEAN-related activities and projects, aiming to raise awareness and strengthen interactions between ASEAN and New Zealand’s agencies and the general public.
