เมื่อวันที่ ๒ กันยายน ๒๕๖๘ เอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงเวลลิงตัน พร้อมด้วยกงสุล และเจ้าหน้าที่สถานเอกอัครราชทูตฯ ได้ร่วมแสดงความยินดีกับ น.ส. จุฑาเทพ เกตุชัยนนท์ และ น.ส. เกศินี บุญแซม ที่ได้จดทะเบียนสมรสเท่าเทียมกับสถานเอกอัครราชทูตฯ เป็นคู่แรก (หญิง - หญิง) หลังจากที่ประเทศไทยได้ประกาศใช้พระราชบัญญัติแก้ไขเพิ่มเติมประมวลกฎหมายแพ่งและพาณิชย์ (ฉบับที่ ๒๔) พ.ศ. ๒๕๖๗ รับรองการสมรสเท่าเทียม ที่มีผลบังคับใช้ตั้งแต่วันที่ ๒๓ มกราคม ๒๕๖๘ ซึ่งประเทศไทยเป็นประเทศแรกในภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ที่ให้การรับรอง
ในการนี้ สถานเอกอัครราชทูตฯ ขออำนวยพรให้ทั้งคู่มีชีวิตสมรสที่เปี่ยมด้วยความสุขและราบรื่นไปยาวนาน
On 2 September 2025, Ambassador Waravuth Pouapinya, along with the Consul and Embassy staff, congratulated Miss Juthathep Katechainonth and Miss Kaesinee Bunsam, for being the Royal Thai Embassy's first same-sex marriage registration (female - female) since Thailand legalized same-sex marriage on 23 January 2025 under The Civil and Commercial Code Amendment Act, 2567 B.E., commonly referred to as the Marriage Equality Act, becoming the first country in Southeast Asia to do so.
The Embassy wishes the couple a long and happy marriage life!
