On 27–28 October 2026, the Royal Thai Embassy in Wellington, in collaboration with the New Zealand Blood Service (NZ Blood), organised a mobile blood donation drive at the Embassy premises from 8.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. on both days. The event attracted strong interest from both Thai and New Zealand communities, with 170 people participating in the blood donation drive over the two days, collecting a total of 54,990 ml of blood.

The initiative formed part of the Embassy’s volunteer activities dedicated to community services and charitable causes for "Nawaminthara Maharaj Day" observed on 13 October in remembrance of the passing of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great, Chulalongkorn Day on 23 October 2026, and the remembrance of the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother on 24 October 2026.

The event aimed to promote the spirit of giving, community solidarity, and goodwill between the Thai and New Zealand communities.

The Embassy also provided a selection of traditional Thai dishes and desserts, including Pad Thai with prawns, Thai green curry with chicken, Som Tum (green papaya salad), Hainanese chicken rice, pumpkins in coconut milk, and bananas in coconut milk, for NZ Blood staff and volunteers who supported the event. The Thai cuisine was warmly received and greatly appreciated by those involved, adding an authentic Thai touch to this meaningful occasion.

Further information on blood donation can be found on the NZ Blood Service website at www.nzblood.co.nz.
