เมื่อวันที่ ๒๒ ตุลาคม ๒๕๖๘ นางกรรณมน เสนาณรงค์ อุปทูตฯ ได้นำข้าราชการและเจ้าหน้าที่สถานเอกอัครราชทูตฯ ร่วมวางพวงมาลาถวายราชสักการะ เพื่อน้อมรำลึกในพระมหากรุณาธิคุณพระบาทสมเด็จพระจุลจอมเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว เนื่องใน “วันปิยมหาราช” วันคล้ายวันสวรรคต พระบาทสมเด็จพระจุลจอมเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว รัชกาลที่ ๕ วันที่ ๒๓ ตุลาคม ๒๕๖๘ ณ ที่ทำการสถานเอกอัครราชทูตฯ
ตลอดรัชสมัย พระองค์ทรงอุทิศพระวรกายเพื่อความผาสุกของพสกนิกร ทรงเลิกทาสและระบบไพร่ ปฏิรูประบบราชการ การคลัง การศึกษา และสาธารณูปโภค อีกทั้งทรงนำนวัตกรรมจากต่างประเทศมาพัฒนาประเทศให้ทันสมัย จนสามารถรักษาเอกราชของชาติไว้ได้ ด้วยพระปรีชาสามารถและพระมหากรุณาธิคุณอันหาที่สุดมิได้ ปวงชนชาวไทยจึงน้อมรำลึกและถวายพระราชสมัญญา “สมเด็จพระปิยมหาราช” อันหมายถึง “พระมหากษัตริย์ผู้ทรงเป็นที่รักยิ่งของปวงชน”
On 22 October 2025, Ms. Kanamon Senanarong, Chargé d’Affaires, a.i., of the Royal Thai Embassy, led the Embassy officials and staff, in a wreath-laying ceremony to commemorate the benevolence of His Late Majesty King Chulalongkorn the Great (King Rama V) on the occasion of “Chulalongkorn Day" 23 October 2025, at the Royal Thai Embassy in Wellington.
Throughout his reign, King Chulalongkorn dedicated himself to the well‑being of his people. He abolished slavery, reformed public administration, finance, education, and infrastructure, and introduced modern innovations from abroad to advance the nation. With his wisdom and vision, Siam was modernized and preserved its independence during the colonial era. For his boundless benevolence, the Thai people revere and remember him as “Somdet Phra Piya Maharaj” — “The Beloved Great King.”.
