2015 ASEAN Day Reception in New Zealand    

            On 11 August 2015, ASEAN Committee in Wellington, which consists of the Diplomatic Missions of Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam, co-hosted the ASEAN Day Reception at the Royal Thai Embassy.  The Honourable Tim Groser, Minister of Trade, attended the reception as the guest of honour representing the New Zealand Government.  The Ambassador of Lao PDR to New Zealand (resident in Australia) also attended.             

            The ASEAN Day Reception 2015 was a special occasion to celebrate the 48^th Anniversary of ASEAN and the 40^th Anniversary of ASEAN-New Zealand Partnership. The function was well attended by approximately 200 guests consisting of diplomatic corps in New Zealand, ministers, members of parliament, government officials, academic scholars, businessmen and ASEAN communities in Wellington.

            The ASEAN Day Reception started with welcome remarks by H.E. Nguyen Viet Dung, Ambassador of Vietnam, Mr. Puttaporn Ewtoksan, Chargé d’Affaires of Royal Thai Embassy and Dato’ Lim Kim Eng, High Commissioner of Malaysia (as Malaysia is the current chair of ASEAN). H.E. Le Luong Minh, Secretary-General of ASEAN also extended congratulation message through a video message. The Honourable Minister Tim Groser delivered a congratulatory message.

            During the reception, ASEAN diplomatic missions, together with the local ASEAN communities in Wellington, presented a full programme of unique cultural performances, exotic sounds and tongue-tingling food flavours to immerse the guests into the world of ASEAN. 

งานวันอาเซียนในนิวซีแลนด์

            เมื่อวันที่ 11 สิงหาคม 2558 คณะกรรมการอาเซียน ณ กรุงเวลลิงตัน (ASEAN Committee in Wellington) ซึ่งประกอบด้วยเอกอัครราชทูตและข้าหลวงใหญ่ประเทศสมาชิกอาเซียนประจำประเทศนิวซีแลนด์ ได้แก่ อินโดนีเซีย มาเลเซีย ฟิลิปปินส์ สิงคโปร์ เวียดนามและไทยร่วมเป็นเจ้าภาพจัดงานเลี้ยงรับรองวันอาเซียน ณ สถานเอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงเวลลิงตัน ในโอกาสนี้ นาย Tim Groser รัฐมนตรีการค้าของนิวซีแลนด์ได้เข้าร่วมเป็นแขกเกียรติยศจากรัฐบาลนิวซีแลนด์ นอกจากนี้ เอกอัครราชทูตสาธารณรัฐประชาธิปไตยประชาชนลาวประจำประเทศนิวซีแลนด์ (ถิ่นพำนักออสเตรเลีย) ได้เข้าร่วมงานเลี้ยงรับรองด้วย

            งานเลี้ยงรับรองวันอาเซียนในครั้งนี้จัดขึ้นในโอกาสครบรอบ 48 ปีของการก่อตั้งอาเซียนและยังเป็นหนึ่งในกิจกรรมฉลองครบรอบ 40 ปีความสัมพันธ์อาเซียน-นิวซีแลนด์อีกด้วย งานในครั้งนี้มีผู้เข้าร่วมกว่า 200 คน ประกอบด้วยคณะทูตประจำนิวซีแลนด์ รัฐมนตรีกระทรวงต่าง ๆ สมาชิกสภาผู้แทนราษฎร ข้าราชการ นักธุรกิจ นักวิชาการ และชุมชนอาเซียนในนิวซีแลนด์เข้าร่วมงานอย่างคับคั่ง

            ในงานประกอบไปด้วยการการสุนทรพจน์ต้อนรับจากนาย Nguyen Viet Dung เอกอัครราชทูตเวียดนามและประธาน ACW นายพุทธพร อิ้วตกส้าน อุปทูต สถานเอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงเวลลิงตัน และ Dato’ Lim Kim Eng ข้าหลวงใหญ่มาเลเซียประจำนิวซีแลนด์ ในฐานะประเทศที่เป็นประธานอาเซียนปัจจุบัน รวมทั้ง นาย Le Luong Minh เลขาธิการอาเซียนได้ร่วมกล่าวแสดงความยินดีผ่านวีดีทัศน์สาร (video message) ด้วย ทั้งนี้ นาย Tim Groser รัฐมนตรีการค้าของนิวซีแลนด์ได้กล่าวสุนทรพจน์แสดงความยินดีในโอกาสดังกล่าวด้วย นอกจากนี้ ในงานยังมีนำเสนอการแสดงทางวัฒนธรรมของอาเซียนโดยชุมชนอาเซียนในนิวซีแลนด์ รวมทั้งอาหารที่หลากหลายของอาเซียนอีกด้วย ทำให้ผู้เข้าร่วมงานได้สัมพันธ์ความเป็นอาเซียนได้อย่างแท้จริง
