A new online e-Visa system
With effect from 19 March 2024 (B.E. 2567), the new online e-Visa system will be implemented to replace the current visa application procedures.
A foreign national in New Zealand wishing to apply for a Thai visa, must submit an application through the new online e-Visa system which original passport and supporting documents either in person or by courier to the Royal Thai Embassy, Wellington, are no longer required. All visa applications, received after 15 March 2024 will be returned to the applicants to re-apply through this new online e-Visa system.
The Royal Thai Embassy, Wellington will only accept applications from residents of New Zealand, the Cook Islands, Samoa and Niue via https://thaievisa.go.th/. Applicants will be required to create an application account, complete the visa application form, upload supporting documents and make payment for visa fee (non-refundable) via the website. It takes around 5-10 working days to process the visa applications from the date we receive all the required documents.

TOURIST VISA
Tourist Visas are issued to applicants who wish to enter the Kingdom for tourism purposes, including for boxing training, scuba diving training and yoga training.
VALIDITY OF VISA:
Visas must be utilized within 3 months from the date of issue (6 months for multiple-entry visas).
PERIOD OF STAY:
Permit of stay will be granted at the immigration checkpoint. Tourist visas are valid for a stay of up to 60 days each stay (30 days for Nationals listed under "No. 12 Specified Passport Holders"). The actual length of stay granted is subject to the discretion of the immigration officer upon entry into the Kingdom.
EXTENSION OF STAY:
Extension of stay may be granted at the discretion of the immigration office. Applications are to be submitted to the immigration office.
FEE:
NZ$300 for single entry, NZ$1,000 for multiple entries.

Passport or travel document with a validity period of at least 6 months from expected date of travel.
One recent passport-sized photograph, taken within 6 months (3 photographs for Nationals listed under "No. 12 Specified Passport Holders")
Valid round-trip air ticket (the date of departure from Thailand must not exceed 60 days after arrival)
Proof of accommodation in Thailand for the entire duration of stay is required (e.g. hotel bookings, invitation letters from family/friends in Thailand together with copies of Thai national ID and/or passport of family/friends in Thailand)
Bank statement with a balance of at least 2,000 NZD (credit card and home loan accounts not accepted)
Additional requirements for Nationals listed under "No. 12 Specified Passport Holders":
- 3 copies of New Zealand visa
- Valid letter of reference from employer or educational institution in New Zealand issued within 3 months (name, position, and contact details of the referee must be clearly indicated)
- If not holding a New Zealand resident, student or work visa, your application will be processed through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Thailand. The processing time may take up to 10 weeks.

Passport or travel document with a validity period of at least 6 months from expected date of travel.
One recent passport-sized photograph, taken within 6 months (3 photographs for Nationals listed under "No. 12 Specified Passport Holders")
Valid air ticket

For recreational learning or training: Letter of acceptance from institutes or organizers of the activities (e.g. scuba diving, boxing, Thai massage and Thai culinary courses)
For footbal player trials: Invitation letter from football club and sponsorship letter
For participants of MICE (Meeting, Incentives, Convention & Exhibitions) events sponsored by Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau: Invitation letter from the event organizer
For medical treatment with registered hospitals: Letter of appointment from hospital/medical center, copy of hospital/medical center registration certificate and proof of sponsorship
For minors under 20 years of age:
- Notarized copy of a birth certificate
- Notarized copy of marriage certificate. In case of sole custody, a notarized copy of the court order must be provided.
- Notarized copy of original passports or national ID card of mother and father OR legal guardian.
- Notarized or orginal letter of consent for the minor to travel abroad from the mother and father OR legal guardian.
Note: The Royal Thai Embassy reserves the right to request for additional documents or information as deemed necessary.
