A new online e-Visa system

With effect from 19 March 2024 (B.E. 2567, the new online e-Visa system will be implemented to replace the current visa application procedures.

A foreign national in New Zealand wishing to apply for a Thai visa, must submit an application through the new online e-Visa system which original passport and supporting documents either in person or by courier to the Royal Thai Embassy, Wellington, are no longer required.  All visa applications, received after 15 March 2024 will be returned to the applicants to re-apply through this new online e-Visa system.

The Royal Thai Embassy, Wellington will only accept applications from residents of New Zealand, the Cook Islands, Samoa and Niue via https://thaievisa.go.th/. Applicants will be required to create an application account, complete the visa application form, upload supporting documents and make payment for visa fee (non-refundable) via the website. The result of the application will be sent via email. Successful applicants will also receive their e-Visa via email. The approved e-Visa must be printed out to be presented to airlines and to immigration officers at the Immigration Check Point.

It is highly recommended that all applicants thoroughly read the User Manual before starting the visa application process to avoid any mistakes, which could lead to the cancellation or rejection of the application.

APPLYING FOR E-VISA


Who needs to apply for a visa to Thailand?

  • Foreign nationals who wish to enter the Kingdom of Thailand are required to obtain a visa according to their purpose of visit before entering Thailand. 
  • Passport holders of certain countries are not required to obtain a visa if they meet the visa exemption requirements. For more information on the visa exemption scheme, please click here
  • Passport holders of certain countries may apply for a visa on arrival (at Thailand's immigration checkpoints) for the purpose of tourism and for a period of stay not exceeding 15 days. For more information on visa on arrival, please click here.

Applying for online e-Visa from 19 March 2024, all visa applications must be done through the new e-Visa System at https://thaievisa.go.th/ which has replaced the physical visa applications. It takes around 5-10 working days to process the visa applications from the date we receive all the required documents. 

  • Applicants will be required to create an application account, complete the visa application form, upload supporting documents and make payment for visa fee via the website. The result of the application will be sent via email. Successful applicants will also receive their e-Visa via email. The approved e-Visa must be printed out to be presented to airlines and to immigration officers at the Immigration Check Point.

  • Sending passports or visiting the Embassy is NO longer required unless advised by the Embassy. No visa sticker will be affixed in your passport. 
  • IMPORTANT 
    • All applicants are strongly advised to thoroughly read through the user manual or watch video-user-manuals prior to starting the application process. 
    • Please exercise caution in completing the applications to avoid any possible mistakes, which could lead to cancellation or rejection of the applications. Payment for visa fee (non-refundable).
    • The Embassy CANNOT edit or correct your personal details for you.
    • In the case where applicants fail to submitted required documents or additional documents requested by the Embassy within 90 days from the date of submission, the applications will be cancelled without prior notice.
