การพบหารือกับบุคคลสำคัญทางการเมืองและการต่างประเทศของนิวซีแลนด์

เมื่อวันที่ ๒๖ - ๒๘ มีนาคม ๒๕๖๗ เอกอัครราชทูตวราวุธ ภู่อภิญญา ได้พบหารือกับบุคคลสำคัญทางการเมืองและการต่างประเทศของนิวซีแลนด์ ดังนี้

๑. วันที่ ๒๖ มีนาคม – พบกับ Ms. Joanna Kempkers ตำแหน่งอธิบดีกรมเอเชียใต้และตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ (Divisional Manager, South and South East Asia) ณ กระทรวงการต่างประเทศและการค้านิวซีแลนด์ เพื่อพบหารือและทำความรู้จักในโอกาสที่ Ms. Kempkers เพิ่งเข้ารับตำแหน่งใหม่ โดยทั้งสองฝ่ายได้ความแลกเปลี่ยนข้อคิดเห็นเกี่ยวกับแนวทางการกระชับความสัมพันธ์ทวิภาคีระหว่างไทย – นิวซีแลนด์ในมิติต่าง ๆ โดยเฉพาะภายหลังจากที่ทั้งสองประเทศมีการจัดตั้งรัฐบาลใหม่ รวมทั้งประเด็นการเพิ่มการค้าการลงทุน การติดต่อระหว่างเจ้าหน้าที่ระดับสูงของทั้ง ๒ ประเทศ และการเพิ่มการติดต่อระหว่างประชาชนของทั้งสองประเทศ ผ่านการอำนวยความสะดวกในด้านการตรวจลงตราและการเดินทางเข้าออกนิวซีแลนด์

๒. วันที่ ๒๗ มีนาคม – พบกับ Mr. Tim van de Molen ประธานกรรมาธิการด้านการต่างประเทศ กลาโหม และการค้า และสมาชิกสภาผู้แทนราษฎรเขตเลือกตั้ง Waikato ตามคำเชิญของ Mr. van de Molen เพื่อทำความรู้จักและแลกเปลี่ยนข้อคิดเห็นเกี่ยวกับความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างไทย – นิวซีแลนด์ในภาพรวม รวมทั้งการเพิ่มโควตาแรงงานไทยในภาคการเกษตรของนิวซีแลนด์ และ working holiday visa

๓. วันที่ ๒๘ มีนาคม – เป็นเจ้าภาพเลี้ยงรับรองอาหารกลางวันแก่ Dr. Carlos Cheung สมาชิกสภาผู้แทนราษฎรเขตเลือกตั้ง Mt. Roskill ในโอกาสที่ Dr. Cheung พรรค National เป็น สส. เชื้อสายเอเชียเพียงไม่กี่คนที่ได้รับเลือกตั้งเข้าสู่สภาผู้แทนราษฎรนิวซีแลนด์ โดยมี Mr. Sam Uffindell ประธานกรรมาธิการด้านสาธารณสุข และสมาชิกสภาผู้แทนราษฎรเขตเลือกตั้ง Tauranga และนาย Chris Holden ผู้ช่วยของ Mr. Cheung เข้าร่วมงานเลี้ยงรับรองด้วย การหารือครอบคลุมถึงความร่วมมือในด้านต่าง ๆ ของทั้ง ๒ ประเทศในอนาคต และระหว่างสถาบันนิติบัญญัติของไทยและนิวซีแลนด์ ในรูปแบบของกลุ่มมิตรภาพรัฐสภา

During 26-28 March 2024, Ambassador Waravuth Pouapinya met with high-ranking officials in the New Zealand foreign affairs and government sector, as follow:

1. 26 March – Meeting with Ms. Joanna Kempkers, Divisional Manager, South and South East Asia, at the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, to discuss and exchange views on ways to further enhance cooperation in various dimensions, particularly as both countries have formed new governments. Areas of focus were increasing trade and investment, high-level visits by officials, enhancing people-to-people engagement, and facilitation of visa as well as entry and departure processes.

2. 27 March – Meeting with Mr. Tim van de Molen, Chairperson of the Select Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade, and MP of Waikato. The introductory meeting was upon invitation by Mr. van de Molen to discuss and exchange views on New Zealand – Thailand relationship in general, as well as increasing quota for Thai workers under the Recognised Seasonal Employer (RSE) scheme and working holiday visa.

3. 28 March – Ambassador hosted lunch for Dr. Carlos Chueng, MP for Mt. Roskill, to congratulate him on his election into parliament. Mr. Sam Uffindel, Chairperson of the Select Committee on Health, and Mr. Chris Holden, Executive Assistant to Dr. Cheung, also joined the lunch. Discussion covered various dimensions of New Zealand – Thailand relations, as well as cooperation between the two countries’ legislative assemblies in the form of Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group.
