The Royal Thai Embassy would like to introduce the renowned Thai movie “Lahn Mah”, to the audience in New Zealand. The movie will be premiered in New Zealand cinemas across Wellington, Auckland, and Christchurch on 18 July 2024.

“Lahn Mah”, which translates to “Grandma’s Grandchild” (English title “How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies”), is a family drama by the Thai director Pat Boonnitipat, telling the story of M, a student dropouts from a university to volunteer taking care of his terminally grandmother in the hopes for receiving inheritance.

 

The tearjerker film touches on the deep bonds of familial ties across generations and borders, becoming the highest-grossing Thai film of 2024, while breaking box office records across Southeast Asia as the most successful Thai film of all time in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore, while cinemas in the Philippines had staff giving out tissues to audiences before they enter the theatre.
