วันชาติและวันพ่อแห่งชาติ ๕ ธันวาคม ๒๕๖๖
เมื่อวันจันทร์ที่ ๔ ธันวาคม ๒๕๖๖ ระหว่างเวลา ๑๘.๐๐-๒๑.๐๐ น. นายวราวุธ ภู่อภิญญา เอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงเวลลิงตัน ได้เป็นเจ้าภาพจัดงานเลี้ยงรับรองเนื่องในโอกาสวันคล้ายวันพระบรมราชสมภพ พระบาทสมเด็จพระบรมชนกาธิเบศร มหาภูมิพลอดุลยเดชมหาราช บรมนาถบพิตร วันชาติและวันพ่อแห่งชาติ ๕ ธันวาคม ๒๕๖๖ ณ สถานเอกอัครราชทูตฯ โดยมีคณะทูตานุทูต คณะกงสุลผู้แทนจากหน่วยงานภาครัฐ ภาคเอกชน ภาควิชาการ องค์กร และสมาคมต่าง ๆ ของนิวซีแลนด์ ตลอดจนผู้แทนชุมชนไทยจากเมืองต่าง ๆ ทั่วประเทศเข้าร่วมงานกว่า ๒๗๐ คน โดยรัฐบาลนิวซีแลนด์ได้มอบหมายให้ Ms. Deborah Geels, รองปลัดกระทรวงการต่างประเทศฝ่ายกิจการอเมริกาและเอเชีย (Deputy Secretary of the Asia and Americas Group) Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade เป็นแขกเกียรติยศภายในงาน ได้จัดให้มีการแสดงศักยภาพของประเทศไทยในด้าน soft power ทั้งในด้านการแสดงศิลปะ วัฒนธรรมไทย มวยไทย การนวดแผนไทย การแกะสลักผักและผลไม้ รวมทั้งการให้บริการอาหารไทย จากร้านอาหารไทยต่างๆ ในกรุงเวลลิงตันด้วย
ในช่วงพิธีการ เอกอัครราชทูตฯ ได้กล่าวสุนทรพจน์อธิบายความสำคัญของวันที่ ๕ ธันวาคม ต่อประเทศไทย รวมถึงการเสด็จฯ เยือนนิวซีแลนด์ของพระบาทสมเด็จพระบรมชนกาธิเบศร มหาภูมิพลอดุลยเดชมหาราช บรมนาถบพิตร และสมเด็จพระนางเจ้าสิริกิติ์ พระบรมราชินีนาถ พระบรมราชชนนีพันปีหลวง เมื่อปี ๒๕๐๕ (ค.ศ. ๑๙๖๒) ความสัมพันธ์อันดีระหว่างไทยกับนิวซีแลนด์ที่มีมายาวนาน ชุมชนไทยในนิวซีแลนด์ รวมถึงโครงการและกรอบความร่วมมือต่าง ๆ ระหว่างทั้งสองประเทศ ซึ่ง Ms. Geels ได้กล่าวตอบ ย้ำถึงความสัมพันธ์อันใกล้ชิดระหว่างไทยกับนิวซีแลนด์ และโอกาสทางความร่วมมือในอนาคต
ภายในงานยังได้มีการฉายวีดิทัศน์เพื่อประชาสัมพันธ์การท่องเที่ยวไทย และมอบของที่ระลึกกางเกงช้างให้กับผู้เข้าร่วมงานอีกด้วย
On 4 December 2023, Mr. Waravuth Pouapinya, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to New Zealand hosted the National Day reception on the occasion of, the Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty the Late King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great, and Thailand’s Father’s Day 5 December 2023 at the Royal Thai Embassy Chancery. Attendees included representatives from the diplomatic corps in Wellington, Members of Parliament, New Zealand government agencies, private organizations, associations, and the education sector, as well as Thai representatives from various cities all over NZ, with more than 270 guests were present at the reception.
Ambassador Pouapinya, gave a speech explaining the importance of the 5 of December in Thailand, the Royal Visit to New Zealand of His Majesty the Late King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great and Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother, in 1962. Past, present and future cooperations to foster relations between Thailand and NZ were also emphasized.
Ms. Deborah Geels, Deputy Secretary of the Asia and Americas Group, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the guest of honour from the Government of NZ, gave a speech emphasizing the longstanding cordial relationship between the two countries as well as the bright prospects for future cooperation.
The showcase of various cultural performances, Thai street food stalls, culinary arts of Thailand, fruit and vegetable carving, Thai boxing demonstration and Thai massage were also displayed.
