The English Teaching Volunteer Project 2015

On 2 May 2015, the Royal Thai Embassy, Wellington has conducted the orientation for  three New Zealander volunteers who are selected to teach English at schools in the province of Rayong, Thailand for a period of three months from 18 May to 13 August 2015. Not only does the project help promote the development of learning and teaching English language in Thai schools, but it is also expected to foster friendship and people-to-people contacts as well as to make more “friends of Thailand.”  The Embassy has successfully implemented the projects every year since 2012 in various provinces around Thailand, i.e. Khon Kaen, Ayutthaya and Surat Thani, respectively.

The three New Zealander volunteerswere warmly welcomed by teachers and students at their assigned schools, namely, Pluakdaengpittayakom School, Pheruksamatawittaya School and Srinagatindra the Princess Mother School in Rayong, respectively. Their innovative teaching styles have attracted many teachers and students interests in learning English and effectively makes them feel more confident in communicating in English.     

Throughout the programme, the three volunteers have opportunities to meet with the local education authorities, including the courtesy call on Mr. Somsak Thongnium, Director of the Secondary Educational Service Area Office 18 and Mrs. Somporn Rutaporn, Deputy Director on 18 May 2015, and also participate in cultural activities to learn more about ways of life in Thailand. 

โครงการอาสาสมัครนิวซีแลนด์ช่วยส่งเสริมการเรียนรู้ภาษาอังกฤษของไทย ประจำปี 2558

เมื่อวันที่ 2 พฤษภาคม 2558 สถานเอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงเวลลิงตันได้จัดการปฐมนิเทศให้กับอาสาสมัครชาวนิวซีแลนด์จำนวน 3 คน เพื่อไปสอนภาษาอังกฤษที่โรงเรียนในจังหวัดระยอง เป็นเวลา 3 เดือน ระหว่างวันที่ 18 พฤษภาคมถึงวันที่ 13 สิงหาคม 2558 โครงการนี้นอกจากจะช่วยส่งเสริมการพัฒนาการเรียนการสอนภาษาอังกฤษของโรงเรียนในประเทศไทยแล้ว ยังจะช่วยเสริมสร้างมิตรภาพและความสัมพันธ์ระดับประชาชนระหว่างไทยและนิวซีแลนด์ รวมทั้งได้ช่วยสร้างมิตรของประเทศไทยอีกด้วย สถานเอกอัครราชทูตฯ ได้ดำเนินโครงการนี้ประสบความสำเร็จเป็นอย่างดีทุกปีนับตั้งแต่ปี 2555 โดยที่ผ่านมาได้ดำเนินโครงการนี้ ในจังหวัดในภูมิภาคต่าง ๆ ของประเทศไทย ได้แก่ จังหวัดขอนแก่น พระนครศรีอยุธยา และสุราษฎร์ธานี

อาสาสมัครชาวนิวซีแลนด์ทั้งสามคน ได้รับการต้อนรับอย่างอบอุ่นจากคณาจารย์และนักเรียนจากโรงเรียนที่ได้รับการคัดเลือกให้ไปสอนภาษาอังกฤษ ได้แก่ โรงเรียนปลวกแดงพิทยาคม โรงเรียนเพรักษมาตาวิทยา และโรงเรียนเฉลิมพระเกียรติสมเด็จพระศรีนครินทร์ จังหวัดระยอง ตามลำดับ  ทั้งนี้ การสอนภาษาอังกฤษของอาสาสมัครดังกล่าวได้กระตุ้นความสนใจของคณาจารย์และนักเรียนในการเรียนภาษาอังกฤษ รวมทั้งได้ช่วยให้นักเรียนมีความมั่นใจในการสื่อสารภาษาอังกฤษได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ

ในช่วงที่ปฏิบัติหน้าที่ในประเทศไทย อาสาสมัครทั้งสามคนได้มีโอกาสพบหารือกับหน่วยงานด้านการศึกษาในท้องที่ โดยเมื่อวันที่ 18 พฤษภาคม 2558 อาสาสมัครได้เข้าเยี่ยมคารวะนายสมศักดิ์ ทองเนียม ผู้อำนวยการสำนักงานเขตพื้นที่การศึกษามัธยมศึกษา เขต 18 และนางสมพร ฤทธาภรณ์  รองผู้อำนวยการฯ นอกจากนี้ อาสาสมัครยังได้เข้าร่วมกิจกรรมทางวัฒนธรรมเพื่อเรียนรู้เกี่ยวกับวิถีไทย   อีกด้วย
