เมื่อวันที่ 24 มิถุนายน 2569 นายมงคล วิศิษฏ์สตัมภ์ เอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงเวลลิงตัน และนางดั่ง ถิ ทู ฮ่า ภริยา พร้อมด้วย ข้าราชการสถานเอกอัครราชทูตฯ ได้เข้าเยี่ยมคารวะและพบหารือกับนาย Phil Mauger นายกเทศมนตรี เมืองไครสต์เชิร์ซ

 

เอกอัครราชทูตฯ แสดงความชื่นชมที่เมืองไครสต์เชิร์ชสามารถฟื้นฟูเมืองได้มากขึ้นเป็นลำดับจากแผ่นดินไหวครั้งใหญ่ในปี 2554 ซึ่งไทยได้มีส่วนร่วมในการสมทบเงินเพื่อบูรณะซ่อมแซมโบสถ์ Christ Church Cathedral ที่ได้รับความเสียหายด้วย ในโอกาสนี้ ทั้งสองฝ่ายได้หารือเกี่ยวกับศักยภาพและการขยายความร่วมมือระหว่างไทยกับนิวซีแลนด์ โดยเฉพาะในภูมิภาคแคนเทอร์เบอรี รวมถึงความเป็นไปได้ในการส่งเสริมการค้า การลงทุน อุตสาหกรรม โดยไทยและนิวซีแลนด์ตั้งเป้าหมายเพิ่มมูลค่าการค้าระหว่างกันเป็น 3 เท่าภายในปี ค.ศ. 2045

 

On 24 June 2026, H.E. Mr. Mongkol Visitstump, Ambassador of Thailand, and Mrs. Dang Thi Thu Ha, spouse of the Ambassador, together with officials from the Royal Thai Embassy, paid a courtesy call on and held discussions with Mr. Phil Mauger, Mayor of Christchurch.

 

The Ambassador commended Christchurch on its remarkable recovery from the devastating 2011 earthquake and recalled Thailand's contribution to the restoration of Christ Church Cathedral. Both sides also discussed the economic potential of Thailand and New Zealand, particularly the Canterbury region, and explored opportunities to expand cooperation in trade, investment, and industry, to compliment Thailand and New Zealand’s common effort to triple their bilateral trade by 2045.
